Tradewinds 04, which is held 14-27 April 2004, is a multinational exercise conducted to strengthen the capabilities and cooperation of the participating nations, with a focus on disaster response, maritime interdiction operations and basic military skills. It includes participants from 17 nations, including Antigua-Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Netherlands Antilles, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom and the United States. The exercise is hosted by the Armed Forces of the Dominican Republic and sponsored by US Southern Command. The US Coast Guard Commander Atlantic Area (USCGCOMLANTAREA) is the executive agent for the Maritime Phase, and US Army South (USARSO) is the executive agent for the ground phase.
