At sea aboard USS Safeguard (Aug.16, 2000) -- Lieutenant Junior Grade Rebecca Aten, from Arlington, VA, peers out through an MK-21 dive helmet before entering the ocean in Lumut, Malaysia.  Lieutenant Junior Grade Aten is the supply officer aboard USS Safeguard (ARS 50) and a Navy Diver.  Safeguard is in Malaysia participating in Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) 2000.  CARAT is annual series of bilateral exercises between the U.S. and Southeast Asian navies designed to promote interoperability between nations.
