Pearl Harbor, Hawaii (Oct. 11, 2002) -- Capt. Ronald R. Cox, Commander, Naval Station Pearl Harbor, and Chief of Staff for Navy Region Hawaii inspects Sailors during a personnel inspection and awards ceremony.  More than 350 personnel were present at the ceremony, Cox's first since taking command in August.  Over 1,350 Sailors and Marines make up the Navy and Marine Corps team aboard Naval Station Pearl Harbor who support the 11,509 active duty men and women who serve on afloat units in the area. Naval Air Station Fallon, Nev. (Aug. 7, 2003) -- A Navy SEAL (Sea, Air and Land) Team member provides security from a rooftop as part of a non-combatant evacuation exercise during Desert Rescue XI at Naval Air Station (NAS) Fallon, Nev. The exercise simulates the rescue of downed aircrew behind enemy lines enabling other aircrews to perform Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) related missions as well as experiment with new techniques in realistic scenarios. Recruit Training Command (RTC), Great Lakes, Ill., (May 16, 2003) -- The Navy's newest "Sailors" pose before a mural dedicated to USS Cole (DDG 67) after their divisions successful completion of "Battlestations Drill." This drill is the culmination of 8 weeksÕ of training that puts recruits through arduous physical and mental challenges.  The ceremony following the exercise signifies a transformation from civillian recruit to United States Navy Sailor.  All recruits must pass this drill before graduating from the U.S. NavyÕs boot camp.  During the ceremony, they change their uniform ballcaps from "Reccruit" to "Navy" which set them apart from the rest of the junior divisions at the training command.
