visualintel > Pausing to reflect, Sgt. Maj. Timothy P. Lamar, sergeant major for Combat Logistics Regiment 15, mourns the loss of one of his own at a memorial service held here April 19, 2006 for Lance Cpl. Darin T. Settle. A native of Henley, Mo., Settle, 23, died April 14 from injuries sustained in a non-hostile motor vehicle accident in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was deployed here as a machine gunner with Transportation Support Company, CLR- 15. Following remarks by Settle’s friends and coworkers, a 21-gun salute was fired to honor the fallen Marine who was serving his second tour of duty in Iraq. Edge, a 32-year-old Marine leader from Virginia Beach, Va., was killed by enemy fire while conducting a combat patrol with his men. visualintel > CAMP HURRICANE POINT, Ar Ramadi, Iraq (April 25, 2005) – Lance Cpl. Manuel Valle Jr., team leader, 2nd Squad, 1st Platoon, Company A, 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, takes a knee in front of a warrior’s memorial and pays his final respects for his fellow comrade, Cpl. Kelly M. Cannan, who fell on the battlefield here April 20. Marines with 1st Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, held a dual memorial ceremony in honor of Cannan, 21, of Lowville, N.Y., and Lance Cpl. Marty G. Mortenson, 22, of Flagstaff, Ariz. Both warriors were killed by the same improvised explosive device attack while traveling in a convoy.
