Gonaives, Haiti (Feb. 5, 2005) Ð An MH-60S Knighthawk helicopter, assigned to the ÒChargersÓ of Helicopter Combat Support Squadron Six (HC-6), conducts logistic flights transporting relief supplies between the amphibious assault ship USS Saipan (LHA 2) and Port au Prince, Haiti, in support of New Horizons a three month humanitarian and civic assistance exercise by Commander U.S. Southern Command. Saipan arrived off the coast of Haiti Feb. 1, and has delivered Navy Seabee construction personnel, U.S. Army military police, and nearly 1,200 tons of construction supplies and equipment via helicopters and landing craft units. The Task Force conducting New Horizons will build three schoolhouses, drill three potable water wells and conduct free health clinics.
